The picture below shows some FACTS about ANWR. The Democrats don't want to drill in ANWR. They cite to its beauty, pristine nature, the animals that will be run off their natural habitat, and the limited oil supply in the region. BUT. The facts and history get in the way. The Prudhoe Bay oil fields provide 17% of our domestic production. All estimates of the reserves in ANWR dwarf the reserves found at both Prudhoe Bay and Kuparik. Prudhoe Bay has been churning out millions of barrels a day for over 25 years.
Here is the real ANWR.
ANWR IN SUMMER!
This is ANWR in winter - where the drilling is proposed.
Below is what the Democrats want you to believe ANWR looks like.
This is the ANWR Democrats want you to see. But, its not quite accurate. Yes its in ANWR, but not where the drilling is proposed.
Do You know what ANWR is? The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Do you know Where?
Here is some comparison.
REMEMBER THE DOT.
THAT'S WHERE THE PROPOSED DRILLING AREA IS, A SMALL POINT IN THE YELLOW PORTION ABOVE!!!
Do you remember the map?
The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain
WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
AS YOU CAN SEE, THE AREA WHERE THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT DRILLING IS A BARREN WASTELAND.
NOW, WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THE DEMOCRATS ARE against drilling in ANWR?
REMEMBER WHEN AL GORE SAID THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD WORK TO ARTIFICIALLY RAISE GAS PRICES TO $5.00 A GALLON?
WELL.
AL GORE AND HIS FELLOW DEMOCRATS HAVE ALMOST REACHED THEIR GOAL!

Once again, you bring logical argument to a situation that calls for anything but (must be a layer thing). It doesn't matter that this is in the middle of nowhere, is close to the coast, and is desperately needed. This is about the fact that man is bad, uses to much of the world's resources, and needs to go back to the stone age in order to become truly a part nature.
Oh but not liberals like Al Gore. They need to have the freedom to have the carbon footprint of a small Wisconsin town in order to tell us how bad we are.
Once the drilling starts, where will it stop? I'm begging the question here, because we both know the it won't stop. Nor will more drilling mean lower oil prices for us mere civilians.
MadJack - your simply wrong.
Just the threat of increased domestic production effects the price of oil, as shown by the drop in price following Presdient Bush's removal of the executive order on drilling this week resulting in a drop in price immediately.
OPEC and other producing countries know that if we develope domestically, they will be effected so they will increase the supply and drop the price. The per barrel price is based on FUTURES speculation. So any anticipated increase in global supply, even in a 10 year timeframe, will have immediate effects on current price.
When will the drilling end, when alternative enerty is a profitable business and when the fossil fule resource is reasonalby near its useable life - about 500 years.
